3PE&FBE COATING OF THE STEEL PIPE

3PE is a coating used to protect steel pipes from corrosion and other environmental hazards. One of the most popular methods of coating steel pipe is the application of a 3PE coating. FBE (Fused Bonded Epoxy) coating is a protective coating applied to pipes and other steel structures to prevent corrosion and rust. LEFIN STEEL can do  this coating for steel pipes.

What is 3PE Coating:

3PE coating stands for three-layer polyethylene coating, which consists of an inner layer of epoxy resin, an adhesive middle layer, and an outer layer of polyethylene.

Processing process:

 1. The surface of the steel pipe is cleaned and specially treated to remove all traces of contaminants such as oil, rust and dust.

 2. After surface preparation is complete, apply the first coat, an epoxy primer.

 3. The second layer is a copolymer adhesive applied over the epoxy primer.

 4. The last layer is a polyethylene outer layer, which provides long-term anti-wear protection for the steel pipe and prevents mechanical damage.

 5. After the 3PE coating process, the coating surface will be thoroughly inspected to ensure that the coating is evenly applied.

Colors:

3PE coating has any kinds of colors. Generally, it can range from black to grey to white. Also depends on the requirements.

Advantages:

 1. One of the biggest advantages of 3PE coating is its ability to resist corrosion. The three layers of polyethylene used in the coating allow steel pipes to prevent pipe corrosion even in harsh environments or when exposed to corrosive materials.

 2. 3PE coating is extremely durable and can withstand extreme temperatures, pressure and impact without cracking or peeling.

 3. Compared to other types of coatings, 3PE coatings are relatively inexpensive. It is a cost-effective solution that protects pipes against corrosion over the long term and requires little maintenance, which can further reduce costs.

4.3PE coating is an environmentally friendly option because it contains no harmful chemicals or solvents, making it safe to use in both natural and urban environments.

 5. 3PE coatings are easy to apply using specialized equipment, making them a popular choice with pipe manufacturers and installers. The coating process is fast and efficient, saving construction time and money.

 6. Strong physical barrier

3PE coatings provide a strong physical barrier against corrosion. 3PE coating enables pipes to maintain their integrity, minimizing the risk of leaks and failures.

 7. Resists UV rays

The 3PE coating resists UV rays, prevents damage from extreme temperatures, and prevents wear and tear, allowing it to be used in harsh marine environments.

 8. Additional layer of insulation

3PE coatings also provide an additional layer of insulation for pipes, which can significantly reduce energy losses while improving pipe efficiency. In addition, this coating significantly reduces maintenance costs

Application:

 1. 3PE coatings are a highly effective way to protect pipes and other metal structures from corrosion. It is widely used in a variety of industries, including oil and gas, water supply and construction.
 2. 3PE coatings can be applied to pipes and other metal structures in a variety of shapes and sizes, making them suitable for a wide range of applications.

 3. Steel pipes that are suitable for 3PE coating are typically seamless and welded carbon steel pipes with a diameter range of 1/2" to 36". These pipes are primarily used in the oil and gas industry, as well as in water pipelines, firefighting systems, and chemical plants.

What is FBE Coating:

FBE (Fused Bonded Epoxy) coating is a protective coating that can be applied to pipes and other steel structures to prevent corrosion and rust.

Processing process:

 1. Clean and prepare metal surfaces to ensure proper adhesion. This is usually done by blasting the surface with abrasives and/or using chemical pre-treatment.

 2. FBE coating materials are typically two-part epoxies that are mixed together prior to application.

 3. Apply the FBE coating to the metal surface using a spray gun or other similar equipment. The coating is usually divided into two layers, with the first layer acting as a primer and the second layer providing primary corrosion protection.

 4. After FBE coating is applied, it needs to be cured to ensure optimal adhesion and performance. Typically the coated surface is heated to a specific temperature and held for a set time

 5. After the FBE coating has fully cured, inspect it for any flaws or imperfections.

Colors:

Some of the most common colors used for FBE coatings include black, gray, and green. Black is generally used for pipelines transporting oil or natural gas, and gray is usually used for water pipelines. Green is often used in pipes carrying various chemicals or sewage.

Advantages:

1. Resistant to chemicals and abrasion

FBE coatings are resistant to chemicals and abrasion. It is also impact resistant and can withstand extreme temperatures FBE coatings are easy to apply.

2. Reducing the time and cost

Reducing the time and cost of coating large steel structures.

3. Environmentally friendly

FBE coatings contain no volatile organic compounds or harmful air pollutants, making them extremely environmentally friendly.

Application:

1.FBE coatings are commonly used to protect oil and gas pipelines from corrosion. The coating can withstand high temperatures and pressures

2.FBE coatings are also used to protect water and wastewater pipes from corrosion and wear. The coating resists chemicals and other contaminants that can cause corrosion.
 3. Chemical processing plants: FBE coatings are used to protect equipment in chemical processing plants from corrosion and wear. The coating is resistant to chemicals, acids and other harsh substances commonly used in chemical processing.

 4. Infrastructure engineering: FBE coating is used in the construction of infrastructure projects such as bridges, tunnels, and highways to protect metal structures from corrosion and wear.
