What are ERW pipes

ERW pipes are electric resistance welded pipes that are primarily used in the construction and plumbing industries. These pipes are made by rolling a steel strip or coil through a series of rollers and then welding the edges together using a high-frequency electric current.

One of the primary advantages of ERW pipes is their cost-effectiveness. They are much less expensive than other types of pipes, such as seamless or welded pipes, making them an ideal choice for large construction projects.

LEFIN STEEL produces the ERW pipe with the following items:

Standard: EN10255, BS1387, ASTM A53, JIS G3444

Grade: S235JR, S355JRH, S355J0H, S355J2H, CLASS A, CLASS B, CLASS C, GR.A, GR.B, GR.C, STK R400, STK R490

Processing process:

 1. Steel Coil Preparation: The first step involves the preparation of steel coils. The steel coils undergo different processes, including uncoiling, leveling, and cutting the coil into appropriate sizes.

 2. Edging: In this process, the edges of the steel strip are shaped to ensure they have a perfect fit. The edges are precisely trimmed to remove any burrs or roughness.

 3. Forming: The next step involves forming the steel strip into a cylindrical shape. Several rollers work together to shape the steel strip, and the edges are welded together seamlessly.

 4. Welding: The electric resistance welding process heats up the edges until they melt and fuse together to create a continuous seam.

 5. Heat Treatment: After welding, the pipes undergo heat treatment to reduce any stresses that may have developed during the welding process. Heat treatment ensures that the pipes have the desired toughness and hardness.

 6. Sizing: The final step involves sizing the pipe to the desired specifications. The pipes undergo cutting, threading, and inspection to ensure they meet industry standards.

Advantages:

 1. Cost-Effective: ERW pipes are relatively cheaper compared to other pipes used for various purposes. This is because ERW pipes are manufactured using a high-frequency electrical current to fuse the seams together, which is less expensive and more efficient compared to methods used to produce other pipes.

 2. High Strength: ERW pipes have high strength due to welded joints. This makes them suitable for use in applications that require high strength and durability.

 3. Versatility: ERW pipes can be used for a wide range of applications such as water pipelines, gas pipelines, oil pipelines, structural applications, and even in the construction industry.

 4. Easy to Install: ERW pipes are easy to install due to their lighter weight and ability to be threaded or welded together.

 5. Quality: ERW pipes are manufactured to meet strict quality standards, ensuring they are safe for use in various applications.

 6. Availability: ERW pipes are readily available in various standard sizes and lengths, making them easier to procure for any project.

Application:

 1. Oil and Gas Industry: ERW pipes are extensively used in the oil and gas industry for pipelines, transportation of oil, gas, and other fluids. ERW pipes are preferred due to their durability, cost-effectiveness and high resistance to corrosion.

 2. Construction Industry: ERW pipes are used in the construction industry for scaffolding, fencing, and handrails. ERW pipes are strong and durable, making them ideal for various construction applications.

 3. Automotive Industry: ERW pipes are used in the manufacturing of cars, trucks, and other vehicles for exhaust systems, suspension systems, and other components. ERW pipes are lightweight, strong, and easily customizable to meet specific requirements.

 4. Agriculture Industry: ERW pipes are used in the agriculture industry for irrigation systems, fencing, and for other applications. ERW pipes are preferred for their durability, affordability, and easy installation.

 5. Water Distribution Systems: ERW pipes are used in water distribution systems for potable water supply. ERW pipes are durable, resistant to corrosion, and can withstand high pressure, making them ideal for water distribution systems.
